Located in the growing community of Berthoud, Colorado, this newly completed home reflects thoughtful design, collaboration, and a clear sense of personal style. Built by Haven Builders and brought to life by Sutherlands designer Julie Ann, the project brings together carefully selected materials to create a home that feels both polished and inviting.
Finished in February 2026, Sutherlands partnered with both the builder and homeowners to guide the selection and installation of flooring, tile, and countertops throughout the home. Each decision was made with intention, balancing everyday durability with elevated design to ensure the space feels just as functional as it is beautiful.

What set this project apart from the beginning was the homeowner’s approach to inspiration. Instead of starting with a traditional design board, she brought in a page from her calendar filled with colors that reflected her own style. That starting point became a thread carried throughout the home, influencing finishes, tones, and the overall feel of each space. It’s a reminder that inspiration doesn’t have to be complicated to be impactful.

As the design came together, a layered mix of materials helped create depth and variation throughout the home. Tile selections, flooring, and countertops were chosen to complement one another without feeling repetitive. This allowed each space to stand on its own while still contributing to a cohesive overall look. Products from trusted vendors, including Bedrosians, Florida Tile, Petra Slate, Arizona Tile, Daltile, Crossville, Shaw, Schluter, and Stoneworks of Colorado, bring both quality and longevity into every detail.
One of the most memorable spaces is the main-level powder room. Bold yet balanced, the room features dimensional navy-blue tile paired with vibrant wallpaper and warm brass fixtures. It’s a space that takes a creative risk and pays off, adding personality while still feeling refined and intentional.
The home’s overall aesthetic leans clean and modern, with thoughtful moments of color and texture woven throughout. There’s a sense of cohesion from room to room, but also enough contrast to keep the design interesting and full of character.

Projects like this highlight the value of collaboration early in the design process. When homeowners come in with a sense of direction, it creates a strong foundation to build from. As the builder and designer work closely together, the result is a home that feels seamless, personal, and well-executed from start to finish. At Sutherlands, that collaborative approach is at the core of what we do. We’re here to help guide each step of the process, bringing together materials, ideas, and expertise to create spaces that truly feel like home.
